CARMEN is a Los Angeles–based studio exploring the emotional and material possibilities of silk.

The studio develops garments derived from abstract photographic compositions.

Founded by Carmen Molina, the practice begins with her encounters with light and the world she explores. Through travel, she gathers photographic fragments of raw surfaces in the natural and the urban, which are layered and recomposed into atmospheric fields of color, shade, patterns, and shapes.

These compositions are translated into sartorial form through timeless silhouettes, drape, and tactility, and printed onto silk in Italy using advanced techniques.

Silk satin, chosen for its depth of color, luster, and soft hand, is the studio’s signature material.
